Strategy Workshop

Step 1: Brainstorm

BRAINSTORM Strategy Workshops 1

Ideas formulated by you. Facilitated by us. To deliver a realistic and actionable company-owned strategy.

It’s your strategic objective. So it makes sense for the strategy to be your strategic intent. But sometimes, you need some fresh perspective and a helping hand to discover the opportunities available to you.

There’s no point in sitting in our ivory tower, formulating bold ideas based on hypothesis and a 2D brief. It won’t be workable in the end. The best strategies are the ones that are business-led, and empowered by you.

Q&A facilitated workshops have proven to be an effective support network for senior executives and next-generation company leaders. It promotes employee ownership of the strategic decisions, and engagement in the proposed strategic solution.

Strategy Workshop

How does it work?

Strategy workshops can be as short as half a day, or as comprehensive as a multi-day activity. Depending on your specific needs and requirements, we will put together a customised agenda fit for you.

Typically, we structure the workshops to answer the three most important strategic questions:

Truly understanding your status quo is a critical first step before you can develop any strategic objectives.

To do this, we will:

  • Review your current business and financial performance (i.e. a business health check)
  • Determine your key performance and capability gaps vs your competitors (e.g. revenue, headcount, country footprint, sales coverage model etc) by country, product and segment.
  • Establish quick-win tactical priorities (i.e. the ‘low-hanging fruit’).

Once you have a better understanding of your current position, we are ready to create a vision of where you want to be, and start to formulate a strategy to achieve this.

To do this, we will:

  • Understand the future macro and/or regulatory landscape and key trends for your industry (both cyclical and structural) to identify longer-term opportunities and challenges.
  • Agree on the gaps your business is willing and able to close to determine a target market position.
  • Formulate an overall vision for your organisation.
  • Identify strategic initiatives to close the gaps identified.

After we have formulated a strategy and identified your strategic initiatives, it is critical you can effectively execute and track your strategic objectives.

To do this, we will:

  • Evaluate the status/effectiveness of your current strategic and operational initiatives to determine what is working, and the areas for improvement.
  • Determine the key enables required to deliver on your target vision (e.g. additional headcount, technology spend, licenses, risk appetite).
  • Develop detailed workstreams for your strategic initiatives (i.e. establishing key deliverables, delivery timelines and project sponsors).
  • Establish mechanisms for tracking delivery and enforcing accountability (e.g. appointing initiative leads and conducting interim strategic reviews).

What do we do?

To ensure your strategy workshop runs smoothly and delivers maximum value, we entrench ourselves into the process from start to finish.

In consultation with your senior leaders, we customise an agenda that best suits your company needs. This is includes the overall format of the workshop, as well as the identification of key focus topics and the preparation of group exercises to draw out creative insights from the team.

Working in conjunction with relevant company stakeholders, we prepare your workshop material including the supporting research and analysis needed to ensure all information is at your fingertips. This way, discussion topics remain well-targeted and reflect your key priorities.

To encourage an interactive environment, we act as impartial moderators during your workshop. Ensuring each and every participant is engaged, and discussions remain respectful, valuable and focused.

Our job is not yet complete when the workshop concludes. We consolidate all the insights drawn from the workshop to outline priority next steps, and develop a robust action plan for your business. This includes identifying relevant deliverables, accountable parties and delivery timeframes.
